Incorporation and Commencement

ATH was incorporated as a public company on 10 March 1998, under the Companies Act 1983. It began operations on 16 December of the same year, consolidating and managing the government's investments in the telecommunications sector.

Strategic Stake Acquisition

In November 1998, the government sold its 49% strategic stake in ATH to the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) following an international bidding process. In September 1999, FNPF acquired an additional 2% of issued shares from the government, reducing government's shareholding in ATH to 49%.

Government Shareholding Reduction

In early 2002, the government further reduced its shareholding in ATH. In January 2002, it sold 9.7% of the issued shares through private placement to six institutions. Then, in March, a public offer was made whe over 1,000 investors participated, resulting in a 4.7% share sale.

Current Government and FNPF Ownership

As of now, the government owns 17.29% of the issued shares of ATH, while the FNPF has increased its shareholding to 72.25%.

Public Sector Reform Programme

ATH's establishment and management of government investments in the telecommunications sector were part of the public sector reform programme.

Optimization

Throughout its history, ATH has focused on strengthening connectivity, delivering innovative telecom services, and making a positive impact on Fiji's digital landscape and communities, driving economic growth and empowering individuals and businesses alike.
